Help needed

Aslamalikum,

I need help because recently my sister, realised her son's names meant something in hebrew which is jewish, i got this from searching his name online;

Shamir is a legendary material that can cut stone ... Israeli statesman Yitzhak Shamir

and his name is Shamir, and she would like to change it to Sami but i don't know the meaning could someone please help me.

i think there is abdu's sami' which means servant of the all hearing [Allah]

and there's sami which means elevated, sublime, supreme according to a few websites

People have also told my sister that you can't put Muhammed infront of Sami as it is Allah (swt) name, i just wanted to know is this correct?

if you really want to change the name, then samir is a common arabic name. it means companion. and it is also closer to shamir.

Sami (سامي) as in "Sami Yusuf" means sublime and is a common name.
